How to reach Portoro?


By plane

The nearest airports are the International Airport of Ljubljana, Slovenia (Brnik – 23 km northwest of Ljubljana and 150 km away from Portoro?) and the International Airport of Triest, Italy (Ronchi – 70 km away from Portoro?). There are very good bus connec­tions between Ljubljana and Portoro? (via Koper) as well es between Triest and Portoro?. The Portoro? airport is designed only for general aviation (planes for up to 40 passengers). There are no regular flights from other airports to Portoro?.

By car or taxi

You can reach Slovenia and Portoro? via major highways from Italy, Austria, Hungary (via Koper), and Croatia (via Rijeka or Pula). You may want to consult the online route planner application of map24.com.

As there are not very good regular bus or train connections with both airports we highly recommend to use the taxi.

By Shuttle

Airport – Bernardin Shuttle

Special shuttles from the airports in Ljubljana (Jo?e Pu?nik) and Trieste (Ronchi) have been arranged for the participants of the FHE’07 conference. From both airports the shuttle will run on November 20 and November 21, 2007. The shuttle will be marked with the FHE’07 logo. Passengers need to board 15 minutes before shuttle’s scheduled departure (see details below). The shuttle drivers displaying the conference logo will collect the FHE’07 participants at the arrival gates.

From Trieste Airport – “Ronchi” – Price: 20 EUR per person*

The shuttle will run from the Arrivals building exit at the following hours: 11:30, 15:30 and 19:30.

From Ljubljana Airport – “Jo?e Pu?nik” – Price: 33 EUR per person*

The shuttle will run from the Arrivals building exit at the following hours: 12:15, 17:15 and 21:45.

Participants have to book a seat on the shuttle until November 17, 2007 at conference@eurotaxi.si, mobile phone: +386 51 694 323 (Denis, Travel Manager). Please mention the FHE'07 conference or the University of Primorska, Faculty of Management Koper. If any seats should remain un-booked they will be offered on the spot to participants without bookings on a “first come - first serve” basis.

Shuttle bookings for returning passengers (after the conference end) will be available for booking directly at the conference (in the conference hall).

Please note that all matters concerning transfer are to be settled directly with the above mentioned travel/taxi company and the conference organiser cannot be held responsible for any inconveniences. This offer is to be considered as additional and its only objective is to reduce Your travel efforts and enable a special reduced price.

By train

Slovenia can be reached by train as there are regular connections with Italy, Austria, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, Hungary, and Croatia. There are no direct lines to Koper, so you have to get to Ljubljana or Triest (Italy), from where you can reach Koper by local train or bus. Portoro? cannot be reached directly by train (as the coastal railway line terminates in Koper), but the 15km route between Koper and Portoro? is well serviced by bus and taxi. You may want to consult the Slovenske ?eleznice (Slovenian Railway Company) website. for details. The Koper main bus station (phone: +386 5 639 52 69) is situated next to the Koper railway station (phone: +386 5 639 52 63).

By bus

It is also possible to reach Slovenia and Portoro? from neighbouring countries by bus. Internal bus transport is well organized and relatively inexpensive. There is several buses running daily between Ljubljana and Portoro?, the journey takes just under 3 hours. You may want to consult the Ljubljana bus station website for details.
